The small (but important) print.

The following are my minimum fees: if a tour requires, for example, substantial research or is of a specialised nature, I charge more.

A half day is up to 4 hours, morning tours to finish no later than 1300, afternoon tours to start no earlier than 1330, evening tours up to 4 hours maximum.

A full day in London is up to 9 hours and finishing no later than 1800: out of London up to 10 hours and finishing no later than 1900.

All engagements are timed from and to Central London: in other words, I am happy to meet your group somewhere other than central London, but if you wish me to do so, I will charge my time from leaving the city centre.

Overtime hours are between 0700-2300 and are payable in addition to full / half day fee if an engagement goes on longer than the time allowed.

Unsocial hours are between 2300-0700 payable in addition to full / half day fee. Taxi fare is also chargeable during unsocial hours or if alternative transport is difficult or unobtainable.

Meal allowance when meal is not included (time of full day tour includes an hour for lunch):

Lunch GBP 10: Dinner GBP 20

Travelling expenses will be charged to and from airports and venues out of Central London.

English public holidays: New Year’s Day, Christmas Day: 100% surcharge

Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Boxing Day: 50% surcharge

Cancellation fees: 48 hours or less prior to departure – Full fee (100%)

Within 7 days notice: 50%

Faulty equipment: when a guide’s working microphone and PA system is not provided at the start of the tour, until the omission is rectified, double fee.

Tour operators are advised to deduct the extra fee from the coach company’s account.

Terms of payment: normally full payment in advance.
